Art

We value children’s creativity, individuality and the development of artistic skills. Through the art curriculum we aim to give children the skills to be able to plan, create, test and review their own ideas in a range of different contexts. All children have the opportunity to develop a variety of artistic techniques and skills, and build upon these as they progress through the school. We use the Kapow scheme of work, which offers highly engaging lessons, designed by specialists, so that knowledge and skills are well sequenced and developed across the school.  All of the Art units begin with a focus on an artist to children develop their understanding and knowledge of famous artists. Throughout units of work, they may also visit and look at other artists to broaden their understanding of how artists work link and build on each other.

We use high quality sketch books to enable children to showcase their learning in the most amazing way. Each child receives their own personal sketchbook and it is there for them to express themselves and their learning.
