Governance
Our Structure
The Governing Body has three key functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff.
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The Sissinghurst Governing Body consists of 12 governors, of which 6 are Foundation Governors (appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education or Parochial Church Council), 1 ex officio Foundation Governor, the Headteacher Governor (ex officio), 2 Parent Governors (elected), 1 Local Authority Governor and 1 Staff Governor (elected).
Governors are appointed or elected for a term of four years, with the exception of the ex officio governors.
The Governing Body adopts the 'Circle' model of governance. Within this framework, certain responsibilities are assigned to particular governors, especially regarding learning walks and exploring the curriculum impact at school.
Regular monitoring visits are made by governors to meet the children to share their learning experiences and with the staff, to gain a better understanding of the teaching and learning environment.
The full governing body meets six times a year. An overview regarding the work of the school for each term is discussed, along with feedback from monitoring visits.
The Chair of the Governing Body is Mr Juan Garzon and can be contacted via the contact form on this website or via the office email - office@sissinghurst.kent.sch.uk
