Bright picture books such as the ones mentioned below can help open conversations about loss and grief, taking time to grief and finding a way forward when ready. The bright illustrations and sensitive vocabulary support with the wide spectrum of feelings children (and adults) experience in bereavement. It encourages conversation and cherishes the memory of that special person they have lost and supports to regain positivity as you move forward.

“The Most Colourful Creature in the Jungle” is a picture book (of circa 600 words) aimed at children ranging from approximately 3-7 years old who have been bereaved. It has therapeutic appeal, designed to assist the very young in overcoming emotionally difficult situations.
