Christian Vision, Ethos & Values

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions any parent has to undertake.

At Sissinghurst Church of England Primary School in partnership with the Church, parents, and wider community, we offer an inclusive learning environment to nurture potential that enables all to be successful.  Vibrant, rich curricular opportunities equip everyone with knowledge and skills to question, discuss and challenge.

Everyone’s talents are discovered and celebrated.  We foster spiritual growth and reflection to find wonder and joy in the World together. As light bearers, our shared responsibility is to encourage each other to be compassionate and kind so we can all shine with integrity, humility and wisdom. We find courage to act when we know there is darkness, illuminating the World with God’s light and hope.

The school offers a wide range of experiences based on a knowledge-rich and sequential curriculum. We are proud of the range of clubs that we offer including wrap around care from 7:45am until 6pm.

Our school rules:

Be ready

Be respectful

Be safe

We hope you will find the information on our website helpful. However, it is impossible to convey the friendly, caring atmosphere of the school or the commitment and enthusiasm of the staff. The only way is to see for yourself. Do not hesitate to make an appointment to look around the school via our contact form or call the office. You will be very welcome.

Our Christian Vision and Values

As a church school our vision is evident in all we offer.  Click here to see a little more about our Christian distinctiveness. Our vision is underpinned by the Bible verses Matthew 5: 14-16.  Jesus said … “You are the light of the world! A city can’t be hidden if it’s on top of a hill. People don’t light a lamp and put it under a bucket; they put it on a lampstand. Then it gives light to everybody in the house. That’s how you must shine your light in front of people! Then they will see what wonderful things you do, and they’ll give glory to your father in heaven... If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives."

We have 4 values - courage, forgiveness, service and kindness and each of these is evident in all aspects of school life.  We constantly refer to our Christian values in our daily acts of collective worship and use them to promote a resilient attitude to learning and to celebrate and reflect on our expectations of behaviour.  Different aspects of our Christian Values are reinforced and taught through many themes in collective worship, in RE and PSHE lessons and regular links are made with British values across the curriculum.

We celebrate children showing the school values using house points and certificate nominations in our Family Worship on Fridays.

Through reflection, learning and participation in school life, staff and pupils recognise that our school is not just a building, but a place where we become role-models, striving to live by the values we are promoting.

Courage

We persevere and are ready to learn, to try our best to make a difference to ourselves and others being strong and courageous. Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Forgiveness

We treat everyone with respect and are ready to say sorry when we upset others. Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as Christ God forgave you."

Service

We look outwards at the world and at others to see how we can keep each other safe and help our community and our world. Acts 20:35 "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Kindness

We are ready to be kind, trustworthy friends like Jesus was to His disciples. With warm hearts we show love to others to help keep each other safe, ensuring we respect and celebrate everyone's uniqueness. Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another."

Our School Prayer

Father, we ask that you would
Bless us in our school
Give us the strength to learn
To be kind, to be fair
And to look after others
We are thankful for all your gifts

Amen
