Christian Distinctiveness

At Sissinghurst Church of England Primary School in partnership with the Church, parents, and wider community, we offer an inclusive learning environment to nurture potential that enables all to be successful.  Vibrant, rich curricular opportunities equip everyone with knowledge and skills to question, discuss and challenge.

Everyone’s talents are discovered and celebrated.  We foster spiritual growth and reflection to find wonder and joy in the World together. As light bearers, our shared responsibility is to encourage each other to be compassionate and kind so we can all shine with integrity, humility and wisdom. We find courage to act when we know there is darkness, illuminating the World with God’s light and hope.

Collective Worship

Collective worship is an integral part of  our school life. Collective worship is presented in a relevant and purposeful way to our children and school community to ensure it supports their daily lives. We endeavour to ensure our children have a variety of approaches which engage and excite them and develops their spiritual growth. Our worships are invitational and inclusive and enable staff and children from other faiths or do not hold a religious belief are able to participate.

Worship embodies our school Christian Vision and ensures that all have the opportunity to flourish. During our daily worship we follow the Canterbury Diocese Collective Worship plans.

Monday - whole school worship led by Mrs Holman

Tuesday - singing worship led by Mrs Pain

Wednesday - whole school worship led by teachers on a rota

Thursday - Open the Book or Class worship led by Ethos leaders

Friday - Celebration worship where families are invited to join us every week

Collective worship in our school is a highly valued and set apart time each day. As a church school, our collective worship is based on the Bible and the life and teaching of Jesus. We encourage children to become actively involved with leading collective worship, through songs, music, prayer and drama.

We enable children to deepen their spiritual life by giving them time to reflect and respond to the message they have heard. We send them back into the school and wider community with the expectation that they will seek to apply what they have learned.

Throughout the year we hold a Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Leaver's Service at Trinity Church, Sissinghurst. These services are led by the children alongside Rev Pete.  Parents are always very welcome to join us for these important events in the school year.

Worship Leaders

Our Worship Leaders are chosen from our older pupils and are called Leading Lights.  They welcome everyone to collective worship and support with the stories and prayers. Our school prayer is below.

Father, We ask that you would
Bless us in our school
Give us the strength to learn
To be kind, to be fair
And to look after others
We are thankful for all your gifts

Amen
