Mrs Penfold will retire at the end of July 2020
It is with sadness that I had to inform parents and carers on 15 January that Mrs Penfold intends to retire at the end of this school year. Mrs Penfold has explained that she had been contemplating her retirement for a while and that after a great deal of thought over the Christmas and New Year break, she decided that this year is the right time to go, as it would give a newly appointed Headteacher a year to settle in before the next Ofsted inspection which is due in September 2021. It also gives the Governing Body enough time to recruit a new Headteacher for the school. Mrs Penfold can be truly proud of where she and her staff have led the school since she took the school on 10 years ago: Outstanding in the last SIAMS inspection, Outstanding Pupil Attainment in the last 2-day Ofsted inspection, and on the cusp of Outstanding overall under yet another new Ofsted inspection framework. We owe her immense gratitude for her role in these achievements and I am delighted that she is able to retire 'on a high'. While we will miss her and her reassuring confidence tremendously, the quality and the ethos that she has instilled in the school will not go with her. It is a legacy that will endure and that governors and staff will continue to build on.The governing body will work hard to make sure that, come the new school year, we will have a suitable and worthy successor in place and we will shortly initiate a rigorous recruitment process.
